Vancouver – Two Grinches have made off with a woman’s Christmas gifts following a morning robbery.

Around 10 a.m. Sunday, a forty-seven year-old woman got off a bus at Commercial Drive and Adanac Street and headed home with a small cart full of wrapped Christmas gifts. As she made her way east on Adanac Street, she was attacked from behind by two young women, punched in the face and knocked to the ground. The victim, dazed and disoriented, stumbled to her feet and realized that the two thieves had made off with her gifts.

The woman was treated in hospital for a minor abrasion to her chin.

Police are looking for two young women who were described as being 5’6” tall with heavy builds and dark hair.

It appears that the girls hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!

Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.

It could be that the girls weren’t thinking quite right.

It could be, perhaps, that their shoes were too tight.

But I think that the most likely reason of all

May have been that their hearts were two sizes too small.

Impaired Drivers Put Your Safety at Risk

Vancouver – Impaired drivers continue to put the safety of others at risk as VPD remove 16 impaired drivers from Vancouver’s streets over the weekend.

Between Friday and Saturday night, the VPD deployed 24 officers to six locations throughout Vancouver as part of the 2014 Winter CounterAttack campaign. Police conducted 237 Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) tests. Forty-five drivers received suspensions under the provincial Motor Vehicle Act for making a decision to operate a motor vehicle while consuming drugs or alcohol:

12-hour prohibitions (New drivers)	6
24-hour driving prohibitions for alcohol	5
24-hour driving prohibitions for drugs	4
Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP) – warn	13
Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP) – fail	16
Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP) – refuse to provide sample	2

Shooting Leaves Bullets Holes In Scooter.

Vancouver - Shortly before 5 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a report of shots being fired in the west lane of Hornby Street at Helmcken. When police arrived, they found a mobility scooter with multiple bullet holes. The driver of the scooter, a 43-year-old Vancouver woman, ran to St. Paul's hospital where she was located by police, uninjured. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Investigators believe that there was an ongoing dispute between the man and woman and that she was the target of the shooting. Update:Vancouver – Suspected shooter Gerry Pennell has been arrested in Vancouver without

incident according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Student Challenge Program Gives Students An Inside Look At The Vancouver Police Department.

VANCOUVER-The Vancouver Police Department Student Challenge Program began in 1997. The program is administered by the School Liaison Unit of the Youth Services Section; however, it also relies on police members from various sections who volunteer their time and effort to ensure the success of this annual program.


The Student Challenge Program is an eight-day “youth police academy,” which starts on March 8 and runs during the school Spring Break. From the several hundred applications received, 48 Grade 11 and 12 students from Vancouver area schools are selected to participate.


The program involves classroom work in areas such as legal studies, investigation and patrol, and human relations. Successful applicants will be involved in a rigorous physical training program, which includes the POPAT (Police Officer’s Physical Abilities Test), daily runs, team challenges, control tactics and drill instruction. Students also receive lectures and demonstrations from specially trained members such as, Dog Squad, Homicide Unit, Drug Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and other sections within the VPD.
